Rotary Charity Fundraiser David Cross helps SPICE (Special People on ICE) achieve their trip to Canada
David raised the funds by taking on the challenge of Ironman UK - a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle ride, and a 26.2 mile run, in July 2012. This feat is even more remarkable as David had to teach himself to swim just months before taking on the event.
The cheque for £1,100 was presented to SPICE at the Absolutely Ice Arena in Slough by the local RCF Host Club the Rotary Club of Windsor St George. Their President Phillip Lenton was joined by David Cross for the presentation on February 17th. Also shown in the picture are SPICE organisers Ricci Hodgson and Nicky Bicknell together with some of the members of SPICE. The money will be used to help fund SPICE's trip to Canada where they will take part in the International Special Ice Hockey friendship tournament. David said "It's so worthwhile to be able to hand over the cheque, if it enables them to go out to Canada and compete"
David raised a further £1,1000 which will be split between a number of charities including Cancer Relief, Leukaemia Research, MacMillan Cancer Support and CLIC Sergeant.
