Ironman Wales Challenge For Winning Rotary Charity Fundraiser

Since participating in Ironman 70.3 UK on Exmoor in June of last year Robert Fletcher has really caught the triathlon bug. Through a great deal of effort he raised the highest amount of all the Rotary Charity Fundraisers in the event and as a result became the winner of the triathlon bike which was especially built for him by TriUK. [A photograph of him being measured up in Yeovil last August is on our website photowall]

The arrival of his new bike has spurred him on to even bigger challenges this year. With a top bike his times have tumbled. As a result he has secured a GB place in the 30-34 years age group at the ITU World Long Distance Championships in Belfort, France on the 1st-2nd June. The photograph shows him in his GB kit along with his top Rotary Charity Fundraiser bike beside the Humber River at Hull.

As a warm up to the Belfort event he will be competing in Ironman Lanzarote on the 18th May, his first ever full distance Ironman event. The culmination of his triathlon year will be taking part as a Rotary Charity Fundraiser in Ironman Wales in September. This year his nominated charity is Arthritis Research UK in memory of his best friend’s mother.
