The Snowdrop Group Reach Their Target,Thanks to Funds Raised By a Rotary Charity Fundraiser

President Nick Whigham of the Rotary Club of Sherborne Castles, the local RCF Host Club, presents a cheque for £500 to Donna Yell, treasurer and Kerry Casey a midwife at Yeovil Maternity Hospital, secretary of The Snowdrop Group the local branch of the national charity Sands. It is a self-support group for parents and families who have suffered the death of a baby.

The donation was from funds raised by Lt Dave Anderson, Royal Navy whilst participating in Ironman Wales as a Rotary Charity Fundraiser.

Donna said “We are hoping work will start shortly on the baby bereavement suite. It’s really important that we have a dedicated room where parents have the time and space to grieve in private and where they can have family and friends to support them if they need”.

Rotary Charity Fundraisers raised over £110,000 last year for a wide variety of local and national charities. Their next Charity Partner event is the Tour of Wessex cyclosportive at Somerton on the 25th- 27th May see www.rotarycharityfundraisers.org
