New Rotary Club President Starts His Year Off With a 1,000 Mile Cycle Ride

Alan Dodds the incoming President of the Rotary Club of Thrapston and Raunds has decided to kick off his year as the clubs new president by doing something completely different. No BBQ or party but a 1,000mile cycle ride for charity. He takes office on the 1st July and then sets off on his 14 day continuous journey from Land's End just six days later.

Fortunately he won't be on his own as he will be joining a group of intrepid cyclists for the 1,000 mile journey to John O'Groats. They will be covering approximately 70 miles a day with a longest day of over 85 miles.

Alan has accepted this huge challenge to raise funds for both the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and Rotary Charities. He decided to raise his funds as a Rotary Charity Fundraiser through the RCF Individuals option. This option enables individuals to collect for a number of charities or good causes using Rotary Charity Fundraisers as a single collecting charity. Gift Aid can be claimed on all qualifying donations thus benefiting good causes as well as charities.

You will not be able to miss him as he will be resplendent in his Team Rotary cycling jersey and shorts as he flashes by. Please donate freely not only for the sake of his charity causes but in acknowledgement of the sheer scale of the challenge he is undertaking at the age of 62 years!
